For your final version of the argumentative/persuasive research paper, you will need to use parts of each of the assignments that we have completed so far: the revised prospectus should allow you an overview of your first two assignments. Since it contains both, you may see the evolution of your ideas, and the direction which your research moved as you discovered more information about the topic. The prospectus included your research proposal, which will remind you of your single thesis statement and offer an outline you can use. It also contained your annotated bibliography, which will become your references page once you remove the annotations and materials you have not used in the final draft. The APA citation practice will help you correctly cite your sources and avoid plagiarism, the rough draft will keep your writing to a single authorial voice, and your second draft provides attribution, in the form of correctly formatted citation of the sources you have garnered to support your argument.

Early in this module, utilizing Microsoft Word, you will submit a finished, APA-formatted, final draft of your paper. We will continue to use TurnItIn, a plagiarism detection service, to analyze your final draft.

Of course, students always want to know how long the paper should be. The answer that I always give is not one that many students find satisfying: it needs to be long enough to adequately cover the topic and not one word more. You will be graded on not simply the quantity of pages you hand in, but on the quality of your work. Papers for your final draft of your argumentative persuasive research project should range from 8 to 10 pages, not counting the reference, abstract, and title pages (11 to 13 pages total).

The rubric found in this section of the course will give you an overview of the grading for your final paper. In fact, most students use the rubric as a check-off sheet, a way to be certain that all bases are covered. Most of this rubric is identical to the checklist you accessed in your first module, so it should not be a surprise.
