I chose to look at the Missouri data for death in total strokes and total heart disease.  I tend to see both of these a lot in my field of work and I find the data to be interesting.  When looking at the state aspect compared to the national average, Missouri is higher than the national average on deaths per year for total strokes.  The only ethnicity that the national average is higher than the state average is in Hispanics.  When it comes to the county averages for stroke deaths, I would say that my county, Marion, is in the middle with the average deaths per year being 78.2.  The lowest average county is 55.5 and the highest average is 127.7.  When looking at the state aspect compared to the national average, Missouri is higher in average with all race than national average for heart disease.  The both blacks and whites are higher than average than national while all other races are lower.  When it comes to the county averages for heart disease deaths, I would also say that my county, Marion, would be in the middle with the average deaths per year being 430.2.  The lowest average is 271.7 and the highest average is 744.8.

I believe that probability played a role in the development of this data because they would include the risk factors and the probability of death when those risk factors are included.  Probability is the likelihood of something happening and in the case of stroke and heart disease, death is occurring.  When the data shows the amount of death occurring, researchers will begin to look for reasons for these deaths.
