They only need to be about half of a page inlength for each one. And cite references in support of arguments (if applicable).Social Media Marketing:Why do you think some managers are resistant to the idea of engaging in social media marketing(SMM)? What could you do or say to convince your reluctant boss that SMM could be a good idea in aspecific business setting. In your response, consider both B2C and B2B settings.YOUR RESPONSE TO DISCUSSION:Resistant to the Idea of Engaging in Social Media MarketingThe social media marketing is a place where promotion of the products or services takes placeextensively. In the present business environment, most of the marketers advertise their products andservices to catch the attention of the customers that are attached with social media. It is considered asan easy place to target specific customers in cost effective manners, but in most of the situation, somemanagers are resistant to the idea of engaging in social media marketing (Kabani, 2013). The reasonbehind this resistance is basically concerned with the challenges that how to trace the importantactionable nuggets from the disturbance and to effectively integrate this into marketing activities todrive optimal business results. The other reason behind the resistance of SMM is the regular monitoring and addressing thenegative comments turning them into a positive message. The social media marketing requires full timebecause people donât write comments according to a timetable, and it needs to react quickly in B2Cmarketing (Kabani, 2013). Further, the lack of skilled employees and inability to attribute sales solelyto a campaign, as well as inability to convert followers/suppliers and fans into paying customers arealso the main reason that managers resist to the idea of engaging in SMM in both B2C and B2Benvironment.Ways to Convince Reluctant BossIn order to convince a reluctant boss that SMM could be a good idea in a specific businesssetting should be required to make him understand through highlighted the benefits of it. In hisconcern, it can be stated to the reluctant boss that the company should start with small projects and tryto hear the negative comments to respond appropriately. Further, it can be also informed to the boss isthat employees should be trained up on the short courses through hiring experts to manage SMMeffectively (Evans, 2010). The company should motivate and engage the employees for the internal useof SMM with initial education.Further, the company should integrate with other marketing activities for both B2C and B2B tomake an environment of profitable through documentation and communication the results across thecountry (Evans, 2010). The company should try to search effective social networking sites that wouldbe strategically effective to do SMM.MEMBER #1’s RESPONSE TO SAME DISCUSION:There could be a host of reasons why some managers do not entertain the idea of using SSM. I thinkthe lack of knowledge of what SSM is and not understanding its potential would be my initial guess.Roberts & Zahay (2012, p.226) states âAn organization, whether a B2C or B2B commercial enterpriseor a non-profit, should not have a branded social media platform without a clear purposeâ. This is verytrue, as a companyâs brand image is at stake if used incorrectly. While the possibility of receivingnegative reviews on SM is there, it also acts as an opportunity for the company to investigate thesituation and to solve customer problems. This is where perhaps the fear comes in for most.My approach would be to show a reluctant boss several of the companyâs main competitors Socialmedia pages and let him or her see how they are using it. I would explain the cost involved and thereach it would have on the companyâs customer base. I would also explain that a social media presenceis expected by most of todayâs consumers. In a 2014 article by Small Biz Trends, they tout that 7 out 10consumers prefer a business with a social media presence. The article also states that âIn some cases, consumers are bypassing search engines and other traditional search options to find businesses onsocial media. Having a social presence confirms the legitimacy of a business and also provides anessential channel for communication. Social media is so critical for most consumers that if you arenâton social media, you donât exist as a businessâ. (Hessinger, 2014).Hessinger, Shawn. Internet marketing: Integrating online and offline strategies(3rded.). Mason, OH: South-Western Cengage Learning.MEMBER #2’s RESPONSE TO SAME DISCUSION:I think that there are a lot of contributing reasons for a manager to have doubts about social mediamarketing. One of the first things that comes to my mind is that they could be afraid of bad commentsor reviews of their product that millions of people can see. Another thing I can think of would be thatthey donât fully understand how powerful social marketing could be for their brand or product. Socialmedia marketing has started to come a very long way in the past few years. The problem is that if amanager has been around for 20 years for example, they might not be so interested in the idea.I found a good article on Forbes called âThe Hidden Benefits of Social Media Marketingâ and I agreeon a lot of their points. If I was trying to encourage my manager to use social media for marketingpurposes I would point out all of the following:1)You can really explain your company how you want. This will help to build a good, strong reputationfor your product or brand.2)Once you obtain a big group of followers, you can start to market with online coupons and deals.3)Just like a TV commercial comes on about 3 times during the same show you are watching, you canuse social media as a constant reminder to the consumer.4)You can have a group of people in your company in charge of the social marketing. These people caninteract and answer questions with and from the consumers. This is my favorite point because this is theonly place where you can market and interact.5)By having social media marketing in your company, it allows for more competition. If yourcompetitor is using this type of marketing and youâre not, you can lose out on a lot of business. The article shows a few other good points as well, but these are the top ones that I picked out and agreewith. I think that it is extremely important to have good, if not better marketing than your competitors. So not using social media marketing could be a big loss. Also, this type of marketing is almost the onlyway to interact and relate with consumers. You can answer questions, correct any negative attitudestoward your product, and promote your product the best.Chandler, Stephanie.
