Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize you with the various components of a quantitative methodology.
Instructions: For this discussion, please complete the following:
- quantitative research article. The article should be published in a nursing journal within the last 5 years. The article should not include qualitative or mixed methods. Selecting the right article is imperative as it will be part of your grade.
- Review the article thoroughly while reflecting on your reading from Polit and Beck (2017).
- Complete the Quantitative Journal Club Template in a Word document, located in the Week 2 resources.
- At the top of the template provide an APA 7th edition citation for the article.
- Follow the APA citation with a brief review of the purpose of the article: i.e., between 2 and 4 sentences.
- Answer all of the questions on the template.
- COPY and PASTE the content from the word document into the discussion board. Do Not Attach The Word Document to the discussion board. Post your initial journal club entry

Research Design: Identify the research design. Discuss whether it is appropriate for the topic under investigation. Is it appropriate? How do you know? Sample Selection: How was the sample selected? What type of sample was used. Was the sample size adequate given the scope of the study? How do you know? Data Collection Methods: Describe the data collection procedures. Where there any issues noted during data collection that may have impacted the study outcomes? Is there another approach that could have been used to collect data? If so which approach? If not why not? Data Collection Measures/Tools: What tools were used for data collection. Were these tools valid and reliable? How do you know? If a standardized instrument was used, how was the tool shown to be valid or reliable? Plans for Data Analysis: What specific statistical tests were used to evaluate the data? Were these statistical tests appropriate? How do you know? Strengths: What are the strengths of the research? Note at least two and give a rationale for each. Weaknesses: What are the main weaknesses of the study. Note two and provide a rationale for each.
