Assignment Instructions:   

Your group will research, create, and then submit a PowerPoint presentation that includes the following content for both of your selected countries: 

Overview of each country: 

• Population and life expectancy data 
• Top causes of death and illness/disability (communicable and non-communicable diseases) 
• Under-5 mortality 
• Main health risk factors (risk factors driving death and disability)
• Data on health care, spending and health care resources/access (numbers and types of providers in the country) 
• Environmental Factors (Water, Sanitation, Infrastructure, Climate changes, Working/living conditions, Transportation, Education, animals that spread disease, food sourcing, and supply) 
• Political factors impacting the country 
• Attitudes, beliefs, values, and culture related to health practices and lifestyle behaviors 

Nursing Care/Health Care Delivery:  What is the situation and impact of nursing care in these countries (training, practice requirements, how do they practice)?   

Current programs or international aid programs working in that country. Efforts to improve conditions.  

Compare & Contrast: What are the primary similarities and/or differences between the two countries?

You may access information from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, the WHO, and other resources to research and report data on your selected countries. 

• Visit the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation database at: http://www.healthdata.org/results/country-profilesLinks to an external site. and review the data and trends for your two countries.  This database will provide information related to population patterns, life expectancy, causes of death, under-5 mortality, disability, driving risk factors, as well as data on health care spending and how well the country is providing health care.

Presentation Specifications: 

Create a slide presentation using Office 365 PowerPoint. Follow the presentation specifications below and use the grading rubric as a guide. 

• The slide design theme should be professional. 
• Slide content should be organized into bullet points (no paragraphs or long sentences). 
• The use of graphics or pictures on a slide should enhance the slide’s main idea. 
• Slide content should be organized and flow in a logical format. 
• Present 15 to 20 slides including title and reference slides.  
•  Adhere to APA guidelines.  A final reference slide, in APA style, is required. 
• Review the Microsoft Office Tips for Creating an Effective PresentationLinks to an external site.. 
• Submit one PowerPoint per group to the dropbox.
