The Scenario

Everyone in your life has developed  subjective culture, just like you have. Select someone in your life who  you will analyze based on what you have read in chapter four. You will  be doing a comparison, just like I did in the Instructional material  section. 

In the first section, identify the  person, how you know them, and what are some of the easily identifiable  characteristics of them and of you. These characteristics need to be  given in comparison, like this…. He is ______, but I am ______ OR We  both _______. Also, in this first paragraph, you need to include an  outside source. Find a source that describes your type of  relationship. Maybe it is best friends, significant other, mother/child,  boss/employee, and share some insight you gained about this type of  relationship from the reading of the source. Make sure that you cite  this source at the end of the information you borrow from that  source. Use a ( ) in the text, and put a full MLA citation at the end of  this analysis. 

Then, in the second paragraph, do a  comparative analysis 

1. You must number your comparative points just like I did (for the couple in the example). 
2. You must include a minimum of ten bold terms in your analysis sentences. 
3. You must bold those ten terms and use them correctly. 
4. You must include ( ) after each term you use to identify the page number where the term is found. 
5. You must put a full textbook citation at the end of the analysis.  

Your purpose for this analysis is to  discover that you have subjectivity in your own cultural formation just  as the person you selected for the analysis does. As ethical  communicators, we need to be aware of the formation of culture within  different individuals and how their culture can have an impact on the  way you interact with each other – positive and/or negative.
