You will see on page 8 of the The Joint Commission (2015) document that there are various areas of focus for accreditation. Keep these in mind as you also review the most current 2021 National Patient Safety Goals, as safety has increasingly been a notable focus in many respects.

For your discussion,

(1) Discuss at least one of the focal accreditation areas noted on page 8 of The Joint Commission (2015) behavioral health care accreditation overview including why you think that is an important area of focus for behavioral health organizations.

(2) Then, after reviewing the The Joint Commission (2021) National Patient Safety Goals, discuss why you believe safety is key to accreditation and quality care.

(3) Make sure you credibly and briefly cite and reference the above sources as shown here as well as any other sources you use. No other sources are required. If you use other sources, make sure they are current authoritative sources no more than 7 years old.
