Predictive analytics centers on data mining, processes, methods, and algorithms. According to Delen, Sharda, and Turban (2023), “Generally speaking, data mining is a way to develop intelligence (i.e., actionable information or knowledge) from data that an organization collects, organizes, and stores. A wide range of data mining techniques are being used by organizations to gain a better understanding of their customers and their operations and to solve complex organizational problems” (p.189).

Healthcare organizations use data mining to reduce fraud and abuse. Doctors and nurses analyze data to implement best practices and provide positive healthcare outcomes for patients. Additionally, data mining is used to improve customer relationships and decision-making processes.

You are the administrator for Green Valley, long-term care facility with 120-bed and skilled care providers. You have been tasked with researching how data mining could be implemented into the decision-making processes at Green Valley. You will present your researched information to the organization’s regional administrators, CEO, director of nursing, and business office managers. It is your job to examine current research on data mining and present your findings and potential application to the organization’s decision and policy makers.
