Find out about resources valuable to professionals in your selected HRT field and setting. In the discussion provide basic descriptions, details about where to locate more information (web address), cost, value/benefit to managers, and any other helpful information for each of the following (please title and number sections in your reply): 

1.  Peer-reviewed journals that contain information that is most relevant and important in your HRT field/setting. Include a web address with more information, cost of the journal, audience the journal is designed for. (This is NOT a search for articles, it is a search for peer-reviewed journals that would be beneficial to managers in one Hospitality industry/setting).

2.  Trade publications that contain information important to professionals in your Hospitality field/setting (include the audience these publications are designed for, a web address with more information, cost of the publication). Note: a trade or industry publication or magazine is designed for professionals (not the public).

3.  Academic books of most value to managers in your specific Hospitality field/setting (include the audience the books are designed for, a web address with more information, cost of the books, name of the publisher, publication date).

4.  Certifications or licenses (not certificate programs, which are different) that would be beneficial to managers in one Hospitality industry/setting. Do not include CPR/AED, First Aid, Lifeguarding, ServSafe and other basic certifications that are requirements in many fields for front line staff. What certifications (other than basic certifications) are valued or required for managers in your selected HRT profession? What are the requirements to be certified? How much does it cost? Provide a web address for more information. Note: a certification or license is different than a certificate program. Certifications and licenses usually involve completing written/practical tests to demonstrate knowledge and skills, and require recertification/training on a regular basis. 

5.  Professional membership organizations designed to provide education, training and networking opportunities for industry professionals in your Hospitality field/setting. Locate new organizations you do not currently participate in. Provide a web address with more information, discuss the purpose behind the organization, cost to join, publications provided to members, and benefits of being a member of the organization. 

6.  Title, location and dates of upcoming professional, national conference that would be beneficial for you to attend as a Hospitality manager. Locate conferences you have not already attended. Professional membership organization web sites often contain information about conferences.

7.  A committee, board or advisory council you would like to be a member of at the national or state level, to represent members of your profession (tip – look at professional membership organization web sites, select a committee, board or council you have not participated in).
