An efficient and flexible information system is important in improving the quality of care, patient safety, and the financial health of organizations.

  • Describe your assigned health care entity or program.  
  • Identify one specific health information technology (HIT) in your assigned health care entity or program.
  • Explain how your identified HIT should be used and support your claims with at least one peer-reviewed journal published in the last five years.
  • Assess the impacts on patient care, accreditation, and financial status if the health care organization does not have an effective HCIS.
